Lola Maximina Ometer, an 86-year-old
resident of Purok 2 in Barangay Mentering, is very happy because their long-time wish to cement the Spanish Road from Purok 1 to Purok 2 has finally come true. Thanks to Ozamiz City Mayor Atty. Henry “Indy” Oaminal Jr. and the Asenso Ozamiz Team, the road is now paved and no longer muddy and difficult to pass.

“We are very grateful because our long-cherished dream has finally come true. I was concerned for my grandchildren as they had to suffer through the floods on the road. Especially near the river, it was difficult for them to cross,” said Lola Maximina.
Lola Maximina expressed her gratitude, saying that she was worried about her grandchildren who had to deal with flooding and a rough road, especially near the river. Now, she is relieved that they won’t face these problems anymore.
The road project, which is 246 meters long and 5 meters wide, was funded by the Asenso Ozamiz administration headed by Mayor Indy through the 2024 budget with P4,486,799.51. It was made possible by the collaboration between Mentering Barangay Officials, led by Captain Rayniel C. Asok, and the LGU.
Lola remembered walking this road in the 1960s when visiting the neighboring barangay of Calabayan and is pleased that her family will now have a much better road for their daily needs.
Barangay Kagawad Mira Ometer also shared her joy, saying it feels like a dream to finally have a nice, paved road. They had suffered for years with a gravel road that was muddy and damaging to their vehicles.
Kagawad Remegio Gordove thanked Mayor Indy Oaminal, Cong. Ando Oaminal, and Governor Henry Oaminal for making their long-time dream a reality. He said they are excited that future generations will benefit from a good road.
“Thank you so much to Mayor Indy Oaminal, Cong. Ando Oaminal, and Governor Henry Oaminal for making our long-held dream of having this road cemented a reality. We are happy for the future generations, our children, and grandchildren because they will no longer suffer from a damaged road.”
“Salamat kaayo Mayor Indy Oaminal, Cong Ando Oaminal ug Governor Henry Oaminal nga nakab-ot na gyud ang dugay ug dugay na gyud namong gipangandoy nga panahon nga masemento na ni nga dalan. Malipay mi para sa mosunod nga mga batan-on, among mga anak ug mga apo kay dili na sila mag-antos sa guba nga dalan.”
The residents showed their appreciation by holding signs to thank Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Cong. Ando Oaminal, and Ozamiz City Mayor Atty. Indy Oaminal.
