Barangay Digu-an is set to become a future destination for local tourists, thanks to its natural treasure the Bulok-Bulok Spring Water, located beside the Digu-an River. According to Barangay Captain Carmelo Rupinta, aside from serving as the current source of potable water for residents in the area, the spring also holds strong tourism potential due to its abundant and powerful water flow making it suitable for development into a resort or eco-tourism site.
Barangay Digu-an is among those encouraged by Congressman Ando F. Oaminal to submit proposals for tourist attraction projects, and Captain Rupinta has chosen to present the Bulok-Bulok Spring as their official entry. The Barangay Council has already passed a resolution supporting the development of Bulok-Bulok Spring as a local tourist attraction. The barangay is currently preparing the project plan for final submission to the office of Congressman Oaminal.
This initiative gained more momentum last April, when cheers and excitement filled Barangay Digu-an during the visit of Congressman Ando Oaminal, who arrived not just to visit but to bring the long-awaited road project leading to Bulok-Bulok Spring. Residents, who had waited for years to see the dusty and uneven trail improved, warmly welcomed the news. Congressman Oaminal assured them that the cementing of the critical road section will be completed within two to three months a move that will greatly improve access to the site and boost its tourism prospects.
The promising initiative would not be possible without the continued support of the Asenso Ozamiz Administration under Mayor Indy Oaminal and the provincial leadership of Governor Henry S. Oaminal, who have both championed local development and tourism growth throughout Misamis Occidental.///(BC/MNN)
