CARD MRI Holds Final 2026 Panaghiusa Media Exposure Tour in Laguna

CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI) conducted this year’s final Panaghiusa: CARD MRI Exposure Tour Program for Media in Laguna from August 26 to 28, 2026, bringing media practitioners closer to its various community development initiatives.

Led by CARD MRI Publishing House Inc., the three-day program aimed to strengthen media practitioners’ understanding of CARD MRI’s integrated approach to community development, covering key areas such as healthcare, education, business development, and livelihood.

“Ending poverty takes more than offering microfinance. It requires an integrated community development approach that tackles core challenges like healthcare, education, and business support,” said Marilyn M. Manila, President of CARD MRI Publishing House.

She added that bringing media partners to the exposure tour allows them to see the organization’s programs firsthand and help raise awareness of how these initiatives contribute to empowering Filipinos and addressing poverty.

During the tour, the participants visited several CARD MRI institutions and client-serving facilities, including the CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI), its school and learning institution; Bay New Town, a housing and community development project; and healthcare facilities under the CARD Care Network, including BEST Health Clinics, BotiCARD, CARD Clinics and Allied Services, and CARD Astro Laboratories.

The media delegation also visited Mga Likha ni Inay (MLNI), CARD MRI’s marketing arm; CARD Indogrosir, its grocery distribution arm; and the CARD-Business Development Service Foundation Inc. (CARD-BDSFI), which focuses on organic farming, value chain development, and business development.

One of the highlights of the program was the Heritage and Lagos Tour, facilitated by CARD MRI Hijos Tours, the organization’s community-based tourism company.

The tour gave the participants an opportunity to learn about the local culture and history of San Pablo City, Laguna, including visits to several lakes, the historic City Hall, and the Cathedral of Saint Paul the First Hermit.

The media practitioners also had the opportunity to meet and interview Rhodora Angeles, a CARD SME Bank client from Barangay Mabacan, Calauan, Laguna, who is known for producing homemade “Trio Juice.”

Through the exposure tour, participating journalists witnessed how CARD MRI’s community development programs are implemented at the grassroots level.

The organization said the experience would enable media practitioners to tell real, human-centered stories that can help raise public awareness and encourage action toward poverty reduction and community empowerment.

The three-day program brought together eight media practitioners from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao: Sheila Mae Butlig of Gold Star Daily News from Cagayan de Oro City; Menzie Montes of RMN Inc. and iFM CDO; Edalyn B. Acta of Capiz Times Publishing from Roxas City, Capiz; Maritess Fernandez of Mindanao Examiner from Zamboanga City; Dexter A. Perez of MindaNet Balita from Davao de Oro; Marlon Alexander S. Luistro of Dyaryo Veritas from Batangas City; Claire S. Cariño of Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp. from Manila; and Sheena Ann Ancheta of Pahayagan ng Kabitenyo from Cavite.
